Explanation for American readers: In Germany, we often associate political parties with colors. The Christian Democrats are "Blacks", the Social Democrats "Reds" Ecological Party: "Greens" etc

Siddhartha: “Actually, when I think about it, the color probably doesn’t matter that much. What counts is who's up for election, and what they make of it.”
